The California Secretary of State removed Butch Ware from the printed ballot using a selective paperwork technicality — giving him a 10-minute window to respond on the final day of the filing deadline. Several other candidates with the same alleged defects were not removed.
The law that they used to kick Butch off the ballot was already overturned by the California Supreme Court, so we’re taking them to federal court. A judge put the case on an emergency schedule — compressing a 21-day process to 7 days. That's how serious this is.

Dr. Rudolph "Butch" Ware is a tenured professor of African and Islamic history at UC Santa Barbara and community organizer who has dedicated his life to learning how to transform society. In 2024 he ran alongside Dr. Jill Stein as the Green Party Vice Presidential candidate, and now he is running for Governor with one simple mission: Bring power back to the people and build a California that serves all of us, not just corporations & billionaires.
Butch learned early in life how our current system leaves people behind. As a child he moved around the country constantly, experienced homelessness, and witnessed his parents struggle to make ends meet while being betrayed by harmful Republican policies and empty Democrat promises.
As a true political outsider, Butch is not beholden to any political party and he accepts zero corporate PAC money. Every dollar in this campaign comes from regular people, so he is only accountable to you.
